Professor Eugene H. Levy
Chair of the AUI Board of Trustees

Associated Universities, Inc., (AUI) was established more than 60 years ago to serve the nation by managing large complex research facilities for use by U.S. and international scientists. For six decades, AUI has overseen the design, construction, operation, and utilization of telescopes, accelerators, and other large scientific instruments.

AUI is committed to managing research facilities so as to ensure optimal scientific productivity, broad access by the scientific community, and a focus on discovery and the development and use of leading-edge technology. Through collaborations and exchanges with institutions in the U.S. and with scientific agencies abroad AUI has been able to ensure the most effective use of public resources in establishing and operating some of the world’s most advanced and scientifically productive research facilities.

The AUI Board of Trustees draws on the talents, expertise and commitment to public service of scientists and science administrators from universities, research institutions and industry, as well as individuals from other segments of the society.

The AUI Board is committed to realizing the broadest public benefit that flows from vigorous scientific research. As part of this commitment, AUI supports effective programs of education and public outreach, and seeks to help build a scientific enterprise that is broadly diverse and representative of our society.
