Section 3.14 Personal Car

A personal car may be used for local travel, provided it is economical and safe. If a personal car is used for AUI-related travel and an accident occurs, in normal circumstances it is assumed any appropriate vehicle insurance coverage would be provided under a personal vehicle insurance policy. Personal accident insurance for employees may also be provided via AUI’s workers compensation policy. Mileage reimbursement for travel made in a personal vehicle will be based on the reported distance or the published mileage for the most direct route, whichever is less, using the current IRS mileage rate. Tolls and any reasonable associated parking are reimbursable.

NOTE: Employees will not be reimbursed under this policy for normal commuting costs or mileage to and from their home to their principal place of employment OR for mileage within their normal commuting route to any other site. Employees will not be reimbursed for tickets or fines, towing or repairs of personal vehicles, under any circumstances.
