Emeritus Appointments

When in the mutual best interests of AUI and an employee, a Scientist with a tenure appointment, or under special circumstances, a Scientist with a continuing appointment, upon retirement may be awarded the status of Scientist Emeritus. A Scientist Emeritus receives no salary and has no specific obligations to the Research Center. However, while scientifically active, he/she does receive scientific support, including access to scientific facilities, support for travel and publications and the opportunity to apply for outside grants on the same basis as regular scientific staff members. An appointment as a Scientist Emeritus must be recommended by a Center Director, approved by the AUI President, and granted by the AUI Board of Trustees.
